For the third year, the Brooke Jackman Foundation celebrates the positive and transformative power of literacy with its annual Read-A-Thon where an array of guest readers bring words to life inspiring children, their families, and the community gathered for an afternoon of books and bonding.
The Brooke Jackman Foundation (BJF) was created in 2001 to honor Brooke Jackman, a compassionate 23-year-old who was killed on 9/11. Brooke’s passion for literacy and helping children moved the Jackman family to create BJF as Brooke’s living legacy. Since its creation, BJF has donated nearly 100,000 books and 15,000 “Brooke Packs,” backpacks filled with books and school supplies, to children and families in need. BJF has also established four children’s libraries and a number of literacy programs throughout the New York area.
Support provided by Arts Brookfield.
